As an Optical Design Engineer you are part of a multidisciplinary product development team (thermal, mechanical, electrical, software and industrialization) that designs and improves the Laser in the EUV Source. You achieve your goals by building knowledge of the product design, functionality and fundamental working principle. You do this by coming up with creative solutions, creating optical models and translating the outcome into practical designs. Once the concept is understood, you detail and implement the design together with your multidisciplinary team and supplier(s). The last step is to verify the design and work side by side with the industrialization team to also enable the efficient production and service activities.
Your daily activities are:
-Come up with practical solutions which fulfill the customer needs and solve field issues.
-Use optical modelling to come to design choices.
-Align your designs with team members from different disciplines and our suppliers.
-Document specifications, identify technical risks and mitigation options and prepare design reviews.
Testing & Verification
-Built understanding of phenomena that act as bottlenecks to increase system performance.
-Verify and improve the optical models based on the actual system performance.
-Document lessons learned and spread the knowledge within your team.
Field & Factory Support
-Support the field and factory teams during the introduction phase of the new design.
Master Degree in Optics or (Laser) Physics
Minimal of 4 year industry experience in testing and designing high end (laser) optics setups
-Ability to overview and understand the physical operation principal of complex optical system and generate detailed modeling and simulation to predict its performance.
-Understanding of high-level system requirements and cascading of these requirements into lower-level modules, sub-modules and component design specifications.
-Proven experience in using at least 2 of the following packages to model, design and analyze optical/ laser systems: Zemax, FRED, MATLAB
-Experience in modeling physical/wave propagation of laser beams is a big pro
-Define and build-up optical tests setups.
-Analyze test results (using Excel and/or MATLAB).
