This is a graduation assignment for a master's student in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field. A good knowledge of optimization techniques, statistics and Matlab is required.
ASML offers several customer solutions improving yield in chip manufacturing. One of these solutions is Levelling Advisor (LA): a software allowing ASML scanners to keep tight focus performance during production. The problem LA is asked to solve is very complex. The solution space is multi-dimensional and non-convex; the input of LA is of a mixed nature: some parameters are Booleans, other discrete, other continuous. Moreover, LA operates in production environment: it needs to return a solution in given time limits. All in all, LA solves a very complex optimization problem.
Explore novel way to improve the optimization performed by LA. This will require the knowledge of advanced optimization algorithms like: Evolutionary Algorithms, surrogate model optimization, particle swarm optimization, Bayesian optimization, etc.
You will be working with a team of experts in optimization and levelling.
You are a Master’s student in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or related. A good knowledge of optimization techniques, statistics and Matlab is a required.
This is a graduation internship for 5 days a week with duration of a minimum 6 months.
Please keep in mind that we can only consider students (who are enrolled at a school during the whole internship period) for our internships and graduation assignments.
